The Serenbe Community is a settlement found in the heart of Chattahoochee Hill Country consisting of largely 900 untouched acres of rural Georgia just south of downtown Atlanta. This community was devised with ecologically sound sustainability principles to ensure the protection of the land and prevent urban overdevelopment. Urban Organic Living had the pleasure of having a brief tour of the first phase of the Serenbe community by owners, James & Anisa Harris of Harris & Clark Thoughtful Grocer & Food School before a attending their food demonstration course. The Harris & Clark store sales products from the 25-acre organic farm located at Serenbe as well as other organic farmers. The course held at the Harris & Clark Food School was taught by authentic Greek Chef Helen Swanston of Crete, Greece. The Chicken Phyllo Pie and Leek Pie topped by the Baklava dessert was excellent and so was the company of other professionals with a love for great food. Check out the Organic Chef Network for the recipe. The Serenbe Community is one of the hidden treasures of Georgia. Be sure to check out their upcoming holiday events and absolutely participate in the many food demonstrations offered by the Harris & Clark Thoughtful Grocer & Food School. It's a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
